1. Extensive Use of
Flash
The entire website, including all navigation and controls, is in flash. Visitors using older computers or software will not be able to access the site.
Perhaps the use of flash is justifiable here. After all, the site is launching Toshiba’s latest hi-tech product. Most visitors will therefore be likely to have high speed connections and up-to-date computers.
However, as warning against excessive use of flash is pretty much “rule number one” in usability circles, we’d be remiss if we didn’t point this out:
Visiting this resource-hungry site would be intolerable with older equipment or a dial-up connection.
We’d normally rank this a critical error. But given the nature of the product and its target market, we’ll only issue a “warning”.
