Inconsistent and confusing navigation
FaceTime website uses six different designs for its navigation, in seven different color combinations, in four separate areas on the page. None of the links are in conventional and expected colors, nor are any underlined to indicate they are links.
A. Eye-tracking research shows that most users miss text and buttons placed above banners (called “Banner Blindness”). All links should be placed below large graphic banners to ensure they can be easily found.
B. Category headers (News, Spotlights, etc.) are actually hidden links, and could easily be overlooked by most users.
Group navigational links within one area on the home page (left hand side) and keep placement consistent throughout the site. Choose one color/type combination for all links and use consistently.
